Team Development

What is the culture within your group? Does your organization have a sense of ownership, pride, or a branded image that they all connect with? Once you find the cultural balance that makes your team click, nail it down by branding that image into your organization. Successful corporations do this today, what are you waiting for? Don’t believe it, not sure this can catapult your team to success?

The world’s most amazing engineering feat, the International Space Station, completed by a multinational team, spread across the world, because of the amazing branding and culture that exists when you hear the word NASA and gaze into an artist’s rendering of what would someday become reality. Thousands of people played a part in the orbiting laboratory that today silently streaks across our sky, proof that even the most diverse team can unite and inspire when rallying around a common culture and brand.

Teams develop a culture with, or without senior leadership’s influence.  A culture can develop from anywhere within the organization.  As a leader, it is our job to proactively mold that culture to show our values as an organization.  Engaged employees, team members that feel an emotional connection to each other and your organization will work harder.

The mood in your group has to be managed, you must take time to build and foster the relationships of your entire team, or sub-teams.  Integration is always a challenge in the work environment, so much that professional systems engineering organizations continually try to put a price-tag and resource load for what the role of “integrators” is.  You as a leader can lessen the need for integration simply by taking steps to foster and grow the connections of your team’s development.

Cultures will develop regardless of how much attention you pay to them.  The question is, are you proactively developing that culture to create the brand you desire, or are you neglecting to foster the environment, only intervening when frustration and negativity boil over?

MWC will work with you and your team to bring these connections to a greater level.  Our practical and tested experiences will serve as the backbone for various activities and collaboration sessions that we will lead your group, office, or company through; serving as the foundation for molding the culture you desire, enabling your team to connect and your business to grow.

Leaders must never forget the motivations that drive the individuals who make their teams great.  As a leader, always be human, listen to employees wants, needs, and desires; find the win-win through understanding shared values and how you, your team, and your company can meet all of your goals, professionally and personally.
